Inclusive Church

We Are An Inclusive Church

Here at St Patrick’s & St John’s, we believe that Jesus Christ offers his message of love and redemption to all people.

We believe in a Church that does not discriminate on any grounds.  We believe that we are all created in the likeness of God.

We celebrate what we each can bring to our faith community, from our many and unique differences that include age, race, gender, sexuality, economic power, life experiences, physical and mental abilities and disabilities.

We believe in a Church that welcomes, loves and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ and celebrates the uniqueness and value of each individuals’ faith journey and contribution to the life of the church.

The United Parish of Whitehead & Islandmagee is proud to be listed as an inclusive welcoming church with an explicit commitment to welcome people who identify as LGBTQ+ by:

Inclusive Church Statement

Inclusive Church is a network of churches, groups and individuals uniting together around a shared vision.

“We believe in inclusive church – a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate.

We will continue to challenge the church where it continues to discriminate against people on grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity, or sexuality.

We believe in a Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.”
