Church Membership

A frequent question we get asked is, ‘How can I get involved in parish life?’ or ‘How can I join St Patrick’s or St John’s Church?’

Come along to church on Sunday

The best way to start getting to know the church community and to feel you belong is to show up regularly. We meet on Sundays at 10.30am in St Patrick’s Church, Whitehead and 12noon in St John’s Church, Islandmagee

(NB. Refreshments are offered after the service at St Patrick’s Church, which offers a great opportunity to chat and get to know people better.)

Register to become a member of the Church General Vestry

Anyone who has reached the age of eighteen years and lives in the parish, attends the parish church of St Patrick’s or St John’s and gives an annual contribution to Church funds, is entitled to be considered a member of the church and is eligible to be registered as a member of the General Vestry of this local parish.

Note there is a simple form that you will need to complete to officially register yourself as a member of the General Vestry.

Church members who have completed the General Vestry registration form may then participate at the Annual General Vestry Meeting in voting to elect in the new select vestry for the coming year. The select vestry is responsible for parish finances and the care of our church property, as well as supporting the ministry of the Rector.

A Select Vestry includes a Treasurer and Secretary, as well as Churchwardens (responsible for the control of church services) and Glebe Wardens (responsible for care and management of church property and land).

If you started attending this church AFTER April this year, you will need to fill in a form to join our electoral roll. If you filled in a form last year, you do not need to complete a new form. Forms can be found at the back of the church, or download by clicking the button below.

Please complete your form and return it to us by 31st March this year, in order to become an eligible voting church member for our next Annual General Meeting.

If you would like your name removed from the General Vestry Electoral Roll, please email the Rector.    mark205@btinternet.com
