The Lenten Lunches 2024

The Church Lenten Lunches 2024 were very well supported and we thank everyone who helped out in anyway, either as sponsors, cooks, servers, dish washers or most importantly, diners who came and partook of a meal between Weds 14th Feb to 27th March 2024.

We look forward to announcing the results of our fundraising efforts to benefit 9 local charities very soon.

St Patrick's Welcomes New Church Choir in late 2023

It was a delight for the congregation at St Patrick’s Church in November to hear our newly formed choir sing for the first time during our Sunday morning service.

To date we have 12 enthusiastic choir members led by our Musical Director Loreto McAuley, and together they have demonstrated a wonderful talent for making beautiful music.

We welcome anyone who would like to join the choir. And no previous experience required.

To find out more or to join the choir speak to Rev Mark Taylor or Loreto McAuley.

A Service of Prayer for Healing at St Patrick's Church Sunday 19th November 2023

A Service of Prayers for Healing was held in St Patrick's Church on Sunday afternoon 19th November 2023.

Guest Preacher at the service was Rev Dr Pat Molloy, (pictured) who is the Director of Ministry of 'The Church's Healing Ministry' based in Belfast.
Our Rector, Canon Mark Taylor led the service.

It was lovely to see more than 20 people attending to share prayers for God's Grace, Peace and Healing for family, friends and others. A number of those attending also took the opportunity to come forward for laying on of hands as prayers were said for healing.

We hope this service will become a regular feature in our programme of services through the year.

For seven weeks during Lent, St Patrick's Church Hall was the venue for a series of Wednesday lunches being organised to raise funds for the church and local charities, but also to provide a space for local people to come together and catch up with each other over a tasty lunch.
From the first lunch onwards, the event was well supported, despite being 3 years since the lunches were last organised due to the covid pandemic.
Here are a few photographs kindly taken by Steve Diamond and others.

A BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED OUR LENTEN LUNCHES, ESPECIALLY OUR TEAM OF VOLUNTEER HELPERS LED BY AUSTIN JENKINS.

We celebrate our Rector being with us for 20 years...with the planting of a Rowan Tree at St John's Churchyard on Sunday 21st August 2022

On Sunday 21st August 2022 the congregations of St Patrick’s & St John’s took the opportunity to celebrate our Rector’s 20th anniversary since first coming to the United Parish of Whitehead and Islandmagee.

A surprise after service celebration was organised and attendance numbers at the service were particularly high for holiday time,  as parishioners came to support and witness the Rector planting a Rowan Tree purchased to mark the occasion. A card and gifts were also given to Mark and Frances as an expression of love and appreciation for all Mark and Frances have done in the parish since they first arrived.  Refreshments were then served after the tree planting ceremony.

A good time was had by all
